Goggle balls, also called lawn or garden balls or even mirror balls, are the reflective balls often placed in courtyard or garden stalls. Because they have a reflective surface, they reflect the ground around them, but when you paint them, the eyeball becomes the center of attention.

As with any painted glass project, the ball should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol to prepare the surface for painting. Then simply paint your design on the glass ball with acrylic or enamel paints suitable for glass surfaces. Whether you paint it with whimsical flowers, the colorful flower bowl or more traditional paint, or this small bowl painted with Donna Dewberry’s one-line technique, whether you choose a fresh, repetitive motif like the cherries on the cherry-painted glass jar or something more geometric like the Funky Jar and the glasses, you’ll enjoy creating your own garden art.

And if glass balls aren’t your thing, I read that some people take old bowling balls and decorate them. Some people use silicone (which is usually used for sealing) to attach small flat glass balls, tumbled sea glass or pennies to the bowling ball. Much less fragile than a glass ball to be sure
