Christmas parties are often big events for most people, but not every Christmas party or gathering needs to be celebrated with a black-tie. An informal party like a Christmas tree decorating party can be a lot of fun because children can be involved. It is a great time for people to relax, visit, and have fun. For some people, this only happens once a year.

Some of the best reasons to have a Christmas party in the afternoon or evening are to dress up festive but casual and comfortable in a relaxed situation, to involve children and parents in the fun, to bring an item from the party to eat or drink, to donate to the celebration, and to have light food such as snacks and light finger food, and there may even be an exchange of gifts.

A Christmas tree decorating party can be a lot of fun, as party guests can bring one or two ornaments to donate to the host and family. Another idea is an informal Christmas craft party where you can bring all the craft items made during the year and exchange them over a Christmas dinner and snack. Invitations can be sent by mail and can be purchased, handmade by the children, or even handmade by the children themselves or bought online.

One of the best features of an informal holiday celebration is that the menu and atmosphere are casual. If you want a balanced menu, don’t hesitate to ask your family or friends to bring a specialty that they can prepare at home. Make your own specialty, for example, a small early snack. Advocaat and peppermint drinks and hot chocolate are a good choice for the cold December days.

Make sure you have your decorations in your party area. Candlelight centerpieces and Christmas wreaths always give the whole thing a special festive look. Lights in the room and garlands are a good way to enhance your Christmas party. If you are having a Christmas tree decorating party, make sure the tree is set up and ready to be decorated. Whatever look you have planned for your Christmas party or gathering, it is important that you are organized but unobtrusive and relaxed. Remember that people will come to your party to visit, eat and be happy!
